San Antonio Police Officer Richard Boyle turned himself in to the Bexar County Sheriff’s office Wednesday on charges of unlawfully installing a traffic device, according to a statement from his employer.

Boyle allegedly installed the tracking device in March of this year while off duty. SAPD officials didn’t say where Boyle allegedly installed the device or what he utilized it for. 

Boyle, a 24-year veteran of the force, has been placed on administrative duty, according to SAPD officials. Meanwhile, the department is conducting an administrative investigation into Boyle’s conduct, they added.
