Events and attractions around the San Antonio area are closing this weekend as an arctic storm is poised to blanket Texas in frigid temperatures and frozen precipitation.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning for South Central Texas from 6 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday. Roads, particularly bridges and overpasses, will become icy, and life-threatening temperatures will continuing through Monday morning. 

The following locations sent out notices that they are temporarily closing or rescheduling events. 

San Antonio Zoo

The San Antonio Zoo will close to visitors Saturday and Sunday, according to an Instagram post. January’s Locals Day is also rescheduled from this Sunday to Saturday, Jan. 31. 

The Alamo

The Alamo will delay opening until noon Sunday and Monday, according to an Instagram post. Purchases for guided tours, entry to the Church, the Alamo Exhibit or other experiences will be refunded. Visitors may also reschedule their tours by emailing tours@thealamo.org

Pearl Weekend Markets

The Pearl is cancelling its Saturday Farmer’s Market and Sunday Maker’s Market, a spokeswoman for the shopping and dining destination told the Current via email. The canceled market will result in lost perishables and income for San Antonio farmers, so she urged visitors to buy a little extra at the next market to help vendors recover from the weekend’s losses.

“They feed us year-round. Let’s have their backs when the weather clears,” the email reads.

Pan American library’s Empowered Choices Part 1

The Pan American branch of the San Antonio Public Library canceled its first “Empowered Choices” event, an official told the Current. The gathering was originally to be held this Saturday at 2 p.m.

The presenter will be unable to travel due to the weather, and the official didn’t specify whether the event would be rescheduled.

Boeing Hiring Event

Global aerospace company Boeing is rescheduling its hiring event from this Saturday to 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, according to officials. Workforce Solutions Alamo Career Center, 638 Davy Crockett Road, Suite 160, will still host the event, officials stated. Attendees should still apply for open roles and bring copies of their resumes.

Briscoe Museum’s Wild West Wildlife Festival

The Briscoe Western Art Museum canceled its Wild West Wildlife Festival set for Saturday. The museum will also be closed the same day. Museum staff will determine whether to reopen Sunday and advised that the next free Locals Day will take place Sunday, Feb. 1. 

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Six Flags Fiesta Texas will close this Saturday and Sunday, according to the attraction’s Facebook post. The park will reopen Saturday, Jan. 31. Visitors who purchased tickets for this weekend may use them for any regular 2026 operating day, the post reads.

Natural Bridge Caverns

Natural Bridge Caverns will close this Sunday, according to an Instagram post. On Saturday, the park will open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for cave tours, but the Twisted Trails Course and Maze will be closed. Visitors should check with the park for what will be open on Monday. As of Friday, officials said they may conduct cave tours but don’t anticipate opening the Twisted Trails Course or Maze.

SeaWorld San Antonio

SeaWorld San Antonio will be closed Saturday and Sunday, according to a Facebook post. The park will reopen for Mardi Gras on Saturday, Jan. 31.
