A San Antonio police officer served a 30-day suspension without pay on charges that she was intoxicated, rude and disruptive during an event she was hired to DJ at the University of the Incarnate Word, records show.
Officer Kristie S. Bush received the punishment for being discourteous to the public, committing acts showing lack of good moral character and being intoxicated in public, according to SAPD disciplinary records.
The disciplinary action stems from an alleged March 16 disturbance that occurred when Bush’s off-duty DJ business was scheduled to provide entertainment during a nighttime event at UIW’s Rosenburg Skyroom, documents show.
University police told SAPD officials they saw Bush consume three or four drinks before becoming loud and disruptive, according to the disciplinary report. The campus cops witnessed Bush slurring her words and loudly declaring in front of her client’s guests, “This is bullshit, I was supposed to go on,” the report also noted.
“Multiple citizens involved in the organization of the event … made complaints to responding officers that Officer Bush was intoxicated, disrupted the event and put a damper on the evening,” according to police documents.
A UIW officer eventually escorted Bush from the ballroom due to her behavior, records show. An SAPD officer and a cadet escorted Bush downstairs, according to the document.
After the SAPD officer asked Bush to explain what occurred so she could file a report, Bush spoke over the other officer rather than answer questions, according to disciplinary records. During the interrogation, Bush also reportedly asked the cadet, “What the fuck are you looking at?”
The confrontation involving the other SAPD officer and the cadet was captured on body camera, according to the report.
“During the disturbance, Officer Bush was loudly utilizing curse words in her speech, saying loudly at various times ‘fuck’ during conversations with officers near guests of the event,” SAPD records also state.
Bush served her suspension from Sept. 20 through Oct. 19, according to police records.
