A San Antonio man was sentenced Monday to nearly six years in federal prison for trafficking gear used to convert legal firearms into machine guns, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
Federal authorities said they arrested Aden Ethan Cantu, 21 — who also went by the name “Glock Mayne” — for the unlawful possession of 94 machine gun-conversion devices, which he’d distributed throughout the San Antonio community.
Cantu was taken into custody Dec. 15, 2023, and remained there until pleading guilty Sept. 25, 2024 to a single charge of possession of a machine gun, Justice Department officials said. He was sentenced to 71 months in prison for the charge.
“The possession of a machinegun conversion device is illegal,” U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas Jaime Esparza said. “These devices are very often paired with stolen firearms and used in other criminal endeavors, and this sentence reinforces the message that trafficking these devices will not be tolerated in our community.”
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated Cantu’s case, according to the Justice Department.
