San Antonio adult boutique and sex-toy emporium Sexology Institute is closing down, according to an announcement on its Instagram page.

The business, located at 707 S. St. Mary’s St. announced that its last day in business will be Saturday, March 22. It launched in 2015.

“Over the past decade, we have been honored to serve as a hub for sexual education, empowerment and community,” the post reads. “Together, we’ve broken taboos, celebrated love in all its forms, and created a space where everyone felt seen, heard and valued.”

Sexology’s post added that “shifting personal priorities and the financial challenges of retail” led to the decision to close.

As a last hurrah, the shop plans to host a “thank you celebration” on Friday, March 7, in tandem with its First Friday market.

Though its days as a brick-and-mortar might be over, Sexology’s owners said this isn’t the end, especially for its sex coaching and sex coach training programs.

“While our boutique will close on March 22nd, our mission to educate, empower and celebrate pleasure continues,” the post added. “This isn’t goodbye, just a new chapter.”
