San Antonio State. Rep. Josey Garcia’s husband was arrested Friday and charged with drug and weapons offenses, the Express-News reports.

Police pulled over Ramon Alberto Salcedo, 38, in the 9700 block of Airport Boulevard after an “observed traffic violation,” the daily reports, citing an arrest report. The police document doesn’t state what the traffic violation was.

During a search officers found drugs, drug paraphernalia and a handgun inside the black 2013 Lexus GS Salcedo was driving, according to the police report obtained by the Express-News.

Salcedo now faces charges of possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 400 grams, which is a second-degree felony, the paper reports. He’s also charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon, a class A misdemeanor, along with possession of cannabis under two ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Garcia, a Democrat, represents Texas House District 124, which includes the West Side along with Westover Hills. She was not in the vehicle when it was pulled over, according to the Express-News.

Salcedo has since posted bond, the daily reports. His bail was was set at $18,500.

Garcia and Salcedo told the Express-News that police had no grounds to make the arrest.

The pair said the pistol found in the Lexus is registered to Garcia and the drugs police located are prescribed to Garcia, an Air Force veteran, for treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. Further, the couple told the daily that the cannabis-related charges are related to legally purchased CBD products belonging to a nephew who owns the vehicle.

“They’re getting him on controlled substance, which is my prescription medication with my name on it, and he has the ID card with my name on it and two ID cards with his name and my name on it, because he’s my military dependent,” Garcia told the Express-News.
