Stay Current with the Pick of the Day: Paseo Por El Westside

The Esperanza Peace and Justice Center teams up with a number of other organizations to present a family day designed to “celebrate and help preserve and honor the places, history, and cultura of San Anto’s Westside.” Even if you don’t catch one of two enlightening walking tours (at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with stops at Casa Maldonado, aka the “Pink House,” and La Cooperativa MujerArtes’ Mother’s Day Sale), the fourth-annual event promises to shed light on the neighborhood’s cultural significance via pláticas, screenings, performances by the Guadalupe’s Grupo Ánimo and SAY Sí’s ALAS Youth Theatre Company, and live music by Las Tesoros de San Antonio — a beloved quartet comprising Rita “La Calandria” Vidaurri, Beatriz “La Paloma del Norte” Llamas, Blanca Rosa, and Perla Tapatía. Free, 9am-3pm, Rinconcito De Esperanza, 816 & 820 S Colorado, (210) 228-0201,
