President Donald Trump is teasing a potential endorsement in a Texas political race he’s mostly stayed out of, according to a Monday report by The Hill.

The president has so far refused to endorse in the heated Republican primary between incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and U.S. Wesley Hunt.

Cornyn has been angling for Trump’s endorsement for months, posing with his Art of the Deal book and in front of the eponymous fast food chain Trump Burger. He also trotted out a seven-figure ad buy brimming with effusive praise for Trump and anti-Muslim rhetoric.

“I’m giving it a very serious look,” Trump told a gaggle of reporters at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, according to The Hill.

“You know, my problem is I’m friendly with all of them. I like all of them, all three,” he continued.

“But you’ll be seeing soon,” he added. “They say whoever I endorse wins. That’s probably right.”

However, it didn’t exactly work out that way for Leigh Wambsganss. Even though the Fort Worth MAGA candidate pulled Trump’s endorsement, she suffered a stunning defeat Saturday to a Democrat in a district that went to the president with a +17 margin in 2024.

Trump even urged “America First patriots” to cast their votes for Wambsganss in a series of Tweets the day before the special runoff election.

However, when reporters spoke to Trump hours after the embarrassing defeat, he acted like he wasn’t aware of the race at all.

“I’m not involved in that. That’s a local Texas race,” he said with a shrug. “Things like that happen.”

After the stunning defeat in supposedly safely Republican Tarrant County, one of the lingering questions in the current political environment is whether Trump’s endorsement is actually a kiss of death.
