A castle-like historic home in San Antonio just underwent a $200,000 price cut

A nearly 6,000-square-foot Monte Vista mansion that blends historic details with modern elegance underwent a steep, $200,000 price cut late last month.

The 1930 home was designed by architect Beverly W. Spillman — known both for his elaborate King William homes as well as South Texas drive-in theaters — and carries a $2.3 million price tag after the recent reduction. It's undergone other cuts since first being listed in summer 2022 for $3.2 million.

Spillman modeled the four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath dwelling after the architecture of Spanish cities of Segovia and Toledo, including its striking stone exterior, arched doorways, stained glass windows and intricate Redondo tiles throughout.

The renovated kitchen features a butler’s pantry, marble countertops and high-end stainless steel appliances. The primary suite upstairs connects to an en suite bathroom and a custom walk-in closet.

A backyard pool and a bar located in the basement wine cellar offer two different types of entertaining possibilities, while the property also includes a detached guest house.
