Members of San Antonio's Ukrainian community gathered with elected officials and others Thursday in front of City Hall for a candlelight vigil on the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The gathering honored the lives lost since the start of the conflict and allowed the local Ukrainian community to thank fellow San Antonians for their support. Mayor Ron Nirenberg, Councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcia and Vitalii Tarasiuk, consul general of Ukraine in Houston, were on hand for the somber event.
