A day after announcing that no, it wouldn't remove the Confederate flag from the theme park's marquee, Six Flags Over Texas has decided that maybe it's a good idea.

According to press statement release Friday morning, the original Six Flags theme park has taken down the Confederate flag from its spot at the park entrance gate. It will replace all six flags with just one: the American flag.

“We always choose to focus on celebrating the things that unite us versus those that divide us,” said Six Flags spokeswoman Sharon Parker in the statement. “As such, we have changed the flag displays in our parks to feature American flags.”

On Thursday, after media outlets asked if they'd keep the Confederate flag waving, in light of last weekend's white supremacist attack in Charlottesville, VA, Parker said the park wouldn't be changing anything. Her reasoning was that their flag was the original Confederate flag, not the second, more recognizable version that's become synonymous with white supremacy.

"Six Flags Over Texas continues to fly the Confederate States of America Flag and does not fly or sell any variation of the Confederate Battle Flag," Parker said Thursday, but didn't explain why that solved the problem. It's the same excuse the park gave after pressure to remove the flag after the 2014 murder of nine African-American churchgoers in Charleston, SC.

This time, however, it's gone for good.
