A pattern of attacks on farm animals has residents on the Southeast side of town fed up with a neighborhood pack of dogs.

Lonnie Janszen, who lives off Old Corpus Christi Highway, told KENS5 that her cows were attacked a few nights ago by her neighbor's dogs. She said she is being "held hostage" by the animals since she is unable to work her land or feed her livestock.

Her frustration comes after the attack on her cows, as well as numerous attacks on other livestock in the area. On New Year's Day, she said another neighbor's horse was attacked and severely injured.

Janszen said that same neighbor's donkey and sheep were killed last August.

Neighbors who have seen the pack of dogs said they are pitbulls and pitbull-lab mixes. Animal Care Services told KENS5 the dog owner has been cited for letting the dogs run loose as well as not being microchipped or up to date on vaccines.

A spokesperson for ACS said these residents will have to file a Dangerous/Aggressive Dog Affidavit in order to investigate and take further action. That way, the owner may surrender the dogs. If not, the dogs will be kept under aggressive restraint.
