San Antonio ISD students are organizing a walkout to protest the threat of Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) raids in schools, the Trump White House’s effort to end birthright citizenship and other issues.

Students at the district will walk out of classes at 12:55 p.m. this Wednesday and make their way to Yanaguana Garden to meet up with students from other schools, as well as community members.

Demonstrators then will gather for a peaceful protest outside San Antonio City Hall at 3 p.m.

“I organized this walkout because I refuse to stay silent while our basic rights are being stripped away,” a post on activist group Mujeres Marcharan’s Instagram said. “This is more than just a protest against Trump — it’s a stand for justice, for humanity, and for the future we deserve.”

Mujeres Marcharan said in its post it stands in solidarity with the walkout’s organizers, whom it didn’t name.

In the Instagram post, organizers listed their demands as “keep schools safe, keep guns out, keep ICE out.” In the image carousel, the post also calls out threats to end birthright citizenship, “which threatens the children of immigrants.” The post also mentions threats to gender affirming care for those under the age of 19.

Community members are welcome to join the City Hall protest at 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to the post.

Separately, protests are scheduled nationally for Wednesday as part of the 50501 movement, whose name signifies 50 protests in 50 states in one day. The Texas protests will occur in Austin at the state capitol and at El Paso’s San Jacinto Plaza.
