City Manager Sheryl Sculley announced on Thursday that five finalists have been selected to replace former Chief William McManus as San Antonio’s top cop.

The five finalists are:

-Anthony Treviño, Interim Chief of Police, San Antonio

-Art Acevedo, Chief of Police, Austin

-Malik Aziz, Deputy Chief of Police, Dallas

-Albert Salinas, Deputy Chief of Police, Las Vegas

-Roberto Villaseñor, Chief of Police, Tucson

Treviño, McManus’ former chief of staff, has served as interim chief since December of 2014. A group of Latino community advocates rallied in July for Sculley to remove the “interim” tag.

The finalists emerged from a pool of over 60 applicants. The five remaining candidates will now go through a final round of interviews with Sculley and a panel of community organizations.

Sculley will select a candidate for the job by the end of August. City Council will likely confirm the candidate in September.
