With the growing need to provide resources for asylum-seeking immigrant families, Sueños Sin Fronteras has organized a benefit show at Paper Tiger on Sunday, May 19.

Chulita Vinyl Club’s San Antonio chapter, Faith Delhpi, Los De Esta Noche, and Nicolas Valdez of Los Nahuatlatos will provide the tunes. Attendees can also expect to enjoy food, drinks, a raffle, donation drive, a card-making table and art from local San Antonio artists.

Organizer Sueños Sin Fronteras is a social justice collective “dedicated to providing humanitarian relief, support and resources to newly arrived asylum seekers coming from the Texas-Mexico border.”

Since March 30, some 8,000 asylum seekers — mostly families with young children — have traveled through San Antonio to settle with host families. The influx has come as refugees flee violence, instability and government persecution in Central America.

“With the current influx of families coming from various parts of the border, we are in great need of the support from our local San Anto community,” reads the event’s Facebook page.
