Casa Guipzot, which bills itself as San Antonio’s first dedicated Mexican wine shop and tasting room, will hold a grand opening Friday for its new location in La Villita Arts Village.

The three-year-old business dedicated to the burgeoning south-of-the-border wine scene is relocating from a spot on the West Side. Its new location at 420 Villita St, Building 2, in the downtown arts and shopping district will feature a curated selection of wines from Mexico’s top growing regions, including Valle de Guadalupe, Querétaro, Coahuila, Guanajuato and Zacatecas, according to details shared by its owner.

“We’re excited to introduce San Antonio and visitors alike to the exceptional quality and diversity of Mexican wines,” Casa Guipzot owner Salena Guipzot said in an emailed statement. “La Villita is the perfect place to bring this vision to life — it’s a cultural crossroads where history, art and wine meet.”

Casa Guipzot also will host weekly guided tastings, wine-and-food pairing classes and cultural events showcasing elements of Mexican winemaking. Additionally, the business operates a club that shares quarterly selections of Mexican wines with members.

The shop’s grand opening celebration will run 5-8 p.m. Friday and feature wines from Valle de Parras-based producer Casa Madero along with food, mariachis, local art and a discussion of Mexican winemaking.
