Barbecue feeds the body, while country music feeds the soul — and Texans a prone to argue all night about which one matters more.
Little surprise perhaps that San Antonio’s Reese Bros BBQ plans to open its second outpost inside a historic Helotes venue and dance hall: John T. Floore Country Store.
The new location will launch Friday, April 17, in conjunction with a concert by “Country Latino” singer-songwriter Sammy Arriaga with Matt Castillo. However, the restaurant’s operators didn’t confirm the operating hours for the new operation.
Barbecue fans can expect classic Reese Bros BBQ staples at the new location, including mouthwatering Central Texas-style smoked meats with nods to classic Mexican staples such as scratch-made flour tortillas, brisket tacos, queso fundido sausage and tortas.
Reese Bros BBQ launched as a food truck in 2020, and the business opened its first official storefront at 906 Hoefgen Ave., east of downtown, roughly two years later.

Co-founded by siblings Elliott and Nick Reese — with additional chef assistance by chef Jorge Flores of Burritos Frontera — the barbecue joint has since garnered acclaim from Texas Monthly and other publications along with a spot on the 2025 Michelin Guide’s list of recommended Lone Star State restaurants.
Floore’s Country Store has operated as a live music venue and dance hall since 1942, having hosted country music greats including Bob Wills, Ray Price and Ernest Tubb.
However, the establishment’s strongest association is with Willie Nelson, who performed there regularly after he returned to Texas from Nashville in the early ’70s. Nelson even mentions John T. Floore by name in his classic 1973 tune “Shotgun Willie.”
Reese Bros BBQ fans can buy tickets online for the concert that will mark Reese Bros BBQ debut at Floore’s.
