Demonstrators took to San Antonio’s streets Friday evening to support workers and their right to organize. They also loudly pushed back at the Trump administration and its policies favoring corporations and billionaires while demonizing immigrants.
Carrying signs reading “Workers have the power” and “Immigrants are welcome here,” protesters flooded downtown streets. Progressive politicians including Democratic U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones and City Council members Teri Castillo and Ric Galvan also spoke to demonstrators in front of City Hall.
Similar events took place in dozens of U.S. cities Friday, bringing thousands into the streets. Organizers behind the May Day Strong protests urged participants to avoid work, school and shopping that day so they could support the needs of workers over the billionaire class.
