Sherpa’s story began shortly after the 2018 Farm Bill changed the future of hemp in the United States and opened the door for what would eventually become one of the more recognizable San Antonio cannabis brands in the state’s growing hemp industry.
What started as an unlikely partnership between a California grower and a newly licensed St. Mary’s University attorney quickly evolved into a company focused on creating approachable, hemp-derived THC products for Texans.
In the early days, the pair launched Bluebonnet CBD — a small retail shop paired with a hemp farm in Spring Branch, Texas. At the time, they were doing everything themselves: cultivating hemp, formulating tinctures, helping customers understand cannabinoids, and navigating an industry that was still brand new to most Texans.
Building Products for Some of the Industry’s Biggest Names

As demand for hemp-derived THC products and Texas THC products rapidly increased, the company recognized a larger opportunity: manufacturing.
That shift led to the formation of TCF Manufacturing, where the team began producing products not only for themselves, but for brands across the country. What started with tinctures quickly evolved into in-house gummy manufacturing — a process that required years of testing, reformulating, and learning through trial and error.
Eventually, the company became a trusted manufacturing partner for nationally recognized cannabis brands.
While helping other companies scale, the San Antonio-based team quietly continued scaling themselves.
The business grew from:
- a two-person retail operation & 6-people farm
- to a small warehouse with under 1,200 square feet
- into a rapidly expanding manufacturing facility on the city’s north side near Blossom Athletic Center.

Why Sherpa Was Created
After years of helping other brands succeed, the team finally decided it was time to build something of their own.
That vision became Sherpa — a premium hemp-derived THC brand inspired by San Antonio culture, hospitality, and the evolving cannabis culture in Texas.
Unlike many cannabis brands focused solely on high potency, Sherpa built its identity around approachable, purpose-driven products designed for modern lifestyles. Today, Sherpa products can be found in bars, restaurants, liquor stores, smoke shops, and retail locations throughout Texas.
From low-dose THC seltzers to gummies and edibles, the goal has remained simple:
Create products that feel social, intentional, and approachable.
As THC seltzers and alternative cannabis beverages continue growing in popularity, Sherpa has focused heavily on creating experiences that feel more aligned with social settings, wellness culture, and modern consumers looking for alternatives to alcohol.

Navigating Texas Hemp Legislation
As Texas hemp laws continue evolving, compliance has become one of the most important conversations in the industry.
Sherpa’s leadership says the company intentionally built its products and formulations with future regulations in mind — allowing the brand to remain compliant even as new legislation impacts other companies across the state producing Texas THC products.
The company also supports broader cannabis advocacy efforts through organizations like the Texas Hemp Business Council (THBC), which continues fighting for responsible hemp legislation and consumer access throughout Texas.
For Sherpa, helping normalize cannabis culture in Texas goes beyond products alone — it also means helping educate consumers, support transparency, and advocate for responsible regulation.
A Brand Built in San Antonio
For the Sherpa team, building the brand in San Antonio has always mattered.
The city’s culture — a blend of history, grit, creativity, and growth — mirrors the company’s own journey. From its visual branding inspired by the Pearl district and historic architecture, to its focus on hospitality-driven cannabis experiences, Sherpa sees itself as part of a larger shift happening in Texas.
Not just in cannabis — but in culture.
And while the company has grown significantly since its two-person startup days, the mission remains the same:
build something authentic, help reshape the stigma around cannabis, and create products Texans can genuinely feel proud of.
