A new way to start the day is headed to San Antonio.
Franchisees for Florida-based chain Keke’s Breakfast Cafe are poised to open six Alamo City locations, the Express-News reports. While the paper said the operators will first target the city’s “northern corridor,” the article didn’t provide opening dates or addresses for the stores.
Brothers Kevin and Keith Mahen founded KeKe’s in 2006, combining the first two letters of their names to come up with the moniker. The chain, which was acquired by Denny’s Corp. in 2022, now operates more than 80 units across Florida, California, Colorado, Georgia, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Texas.
KeKe’s restaurants offer a wide menu of breakfast and lunch classics, ranging from pancake stacks and omelets to avocado toast and paninis. In addition to coffee beverages, the eateries also offer a selection of cocktails.
Guests also can expect rotating seasonal favorites — for example, cinnamon-roll pancakes in the fall. Another seasonal treat is the chain’s pumpkin pie coffee — a creative spin on the famous pumpkin spice latte.
The six San Antonio locations will be owned by franchisees Adebiyi Wale and Danny Ohioze, both Nigeria-born tech-industry professionals, according to the Express-News.
“This is a very family-oriented city, and people are always looking for breakfast or lunch,” Ohioze said in a statement supplied to the daily. “There are only a handful of places that are doing it excellently well, and their waitlists are always super long. That tells me there is a market for these services.”
