The City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture has opened the initial window for artist grants its offering for the 2026 fiscal year.

San Antonio-based artists may apply for grants totaling $7,500 and $15,000 to support the creation of new work. The city’s annual program is open to individual creators as well as those working in collaborations, collectives and ensembles.

Artists have until Feb. 7 to submit an intent to apply, according to department officials. After that, those who submit will gain access to the full grant application, which is open Jan. 13-Feb. 21. 

“Grants are for the production of new, original and high-quality art to be presented in the city,” Arts & Culture Department officials said in an emailed statement.

Artists of all disciplines are encouraged to apply, including those specializing in the literary arts, media arts, performing arts and visual arts as well as multi-disciplinary artists, according to the city.

“Artist grants are fantastic opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers. Whether you are a first-time or returning applicant, we welcome the opportunity to connect with you,” Department of Arts & Culture Director Krystal Jones said. 

The Arts & Culture Department reviews applications in the spring. Accepted applicants are notified by the summer with funds and contracts doled out in October.
