Company co-owners Fred Garza-Guzman and Stephen Garza-Guzman acquired the property July 8 and are poised to usher in a new era for the ghastly hospital, located roughly 80 miles away from downtown San Antonio.
Yorktown Memorial Hospital opened in 1951 and served the surrounding area before being shuttered in the mid-’80s. Although the site has remained abandoned for more than 30 years, it’s emerged as a tourist attraction for those drawn to the macabre.
While the hospital never exceeded 60% capacity, it’s estimated that 2,000 deaths occurred within its walls, according to a statement from the Curious Twins. The site’s many fatalities and reputation for paranormal activity have earned it titles such as the “most haunted building in Texas” and the “second-most haunted hospital in the United States.”
“Imagine stepping inside a decaying 1950s hospital that’s been abandoned for over 30 years,” the Curious Twins said in their statement. “As you venture deeper into its desolate halls, the air hangs heavy with a chilling presence, thick with the stale scent of damp earth, rust and forgotten things. Peeling paint and cracked floor tiles tell tales of a forgotten past, a place where the veil between worlds feels thin. Whispers of over 2,000 souls still echo through the empty corridors, long after their final breaths.”
Gulp.

Proceeds will go toward preservation of the historic property, including roof repairs and upgraded security, according to Curious Twins.
Brave souls wishing to book a ghost tour, photo shoot or paranormal investigation, can do so on the Yorktown Hospital website.
