Billed by organizers as the nation’s largest city-sanctioned and city-sponsored festival of its kind, San Antonio’s 16th annual Diwali celebration took place Saturday night.
The downtown event brought together revelers to honor the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
Diwali is celebrated by people of Indian ancestry around the globe. The gathering at Hemisfair and Arneson River Theatre included dance, music, food, fireworks and the placement of floating lamps, or diyas, on the San Antonio River.
