San Antonio’s LGBTQ community is lifting up one of its own with a benefit event this week.
The Heat Nightclub will not charge a cover on Thursday night, instead taking donations to benefit Freddie Cortez, who performs in drag as Sweet Savage. MySA.com reports that Cortez is in a coma after being hospitalized last week due to other medical conditions.
Scott Lee Roth, entertainment director for Strip SA, told the news site that all donations collected at the “We Love Sweet Savage” event will go toward Cortez’s medical expenses.
The event begins at 11 p.m. Thursday.
