PechaKucha San Antonio, part of a global arts and culture series that invites creative folk to introduce themselves and their practices to live audiences, will hold its final event of 2024 this Thursday — the 45th in the series.
Each presenter at the event gets 20 images to show behind them as slides, and each slide advances automatically every 20 seconds, giving them a total of 6 minutes, 40 seconds in front of the crowd.
Volume 45 presenters include artist Brenda L. Burmeister, record hoarder Chris Hernandez, stone mason Curtis Hunt III, master craftsman Attie Jonker, cultural placemaker Andrea “Andi” Rodriguez, public-interest technology expert Emily Royall and Roberto Treviño, executive director of the San Antonio Philharmonic.
The evening’s emcee is poet and author Jenny Browne, Poet Laureate of both the City of San Antonio and the State of Texas. The gathering will take place at downtown’s Scottish Rite Cathedral.
The welcome reception will include live music by members of the San Antonio Philharmonic as well as complimentary bites by San Antonio chefs and restaurants including Tandem, Naco Mexican Grayson, Beacon Hill Deli and Olla Express. Cocktails will be available for purchase from Amor Eterno.
$10, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, Scottish Rite Cathedral, 308 Ave. E, pechakucha.com/communities/san-antonio.
