San Antonio isn’t just one of America’s most-haunted cities, it also has a rich history of urban legends.

To celebrate that legacy, drag troupe House of Eternas will bring San Antonio urban legends to life with a haunted house and folklore exhibit Wednesday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 27, at Blue Star Arts Complex.

“Urban Legends of San Antonio” will kick off Wednesday with an all-ages interactive folklore exhibit. This educational walk-through will take place 7-11 p.m. at 115 Blue Star, located in the alleyway behind Brick.

Wednesday’s family-friendly event is the only night that won’t include jump scares. Expect the haunted house to crank up the creepy Thursday through Sunday.

Admission is free for Wednesday’s exhibit with donations welcome. After that, it runs $10 for the full-haunt experience.

During the interactive event, members of the troupe will portray legendary figures including La Lechuza, the Donkey Lady, Bloody Mary and La Llorona. El Cucuy, the Dancing Devil, La Chupacabra and San Antonio’s infamous Ghost Tracks also be featured.

This experience is hosted by Miss Taint and the House of Eternas, a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) alternative drag house in San Antonio.

Miss Taint — aka piercer Brian Hernandez — is officially a San Antonio urban legend herself, according to the Current‘s readers, who ranked her third among the city’s Best Urban Legends in our 2024 Best of San Antonio issue.

This is the second annual haunted event for the House of Eternas. Other than Miss Taint, the drag artists working the haunt are Bloody Blush, Mistress Baby Rae, Mabiki, Sélah V, Anita Verga and Papi Culo.
