News anchor Sarah Acosta is the latest high-profile departure from TV station KSAT-12’s news team.

“Life update: After 8 years of anchoring, reporting with KSAT, next Saturday Aug. 8th will be my last show,” Acosta said over the weekend in an Instagram post. “I am leaving news after 16 years and excited to start this new chapter in my life.”

Acosta said she was sad to leave her co-workers at the station, whom she said had been with her through milestones such as getting married, having a baby and buying a home. However, she hinted that she will remain in San Antonio, adding that she will soon let viewers know her next role.

More than half a dozen longtime journalists have departed the KSAT news team since spring of 2024, including Mark Austin, Jessie Degollado, Marilyn Moritz, Mike Osterhage, Ursula Pari and David Sears. The departures came as Graham Media Group, which owns the ABC affiliate and six other TV stations, extended buyout offers in a cost-cutting move.

Local broadcast outlets face mounting pressure to cut costs as they grapple with declining ad revenue, competition from streaming platforms and changes in the way viewers obtain news content.

KSAT isn’t the only San Antonio TV station to shed jobs during the tough operating environment. CBS affiliate KENS 5, owned by the Tegna broadcast group, has also cut staff over the past couple of years, including Emmy-winning director Raymond Silva, who left in January.

Acosta, who was raised in Corpus Christi, joined KSAT in 2018 as a morning reporter for Good Morning San Antonio. She came to the market after working in TV news in Sacramento, Calif.
