Seven of those pools — Elmendorf Lake, Fairchild, Heritage, Kinsborough, Lady Bird Johnson, Spring Time and Woodlawn Lake — are already open for pre-season swimming and have been in operation since Memorial Day.
Additionally, Parks and Rec holds Senior Swim sessions at Southside Lions from 9-10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as Lap Swim at Woodlawn Lake from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. Both programs are free and run weekly throughout the season.
Beyond the pools, San Antonio operates seven public splash pads. In operation since March, the pads will continue their 9 a.m.-9 p.m. run times until October. For those hoping to stay indoors, the Atanacio Garcia Natatorium remains open year-round for public indoor swimming, though admission fees apply.
If you’re ready to take the plunge, don’t forget to leave your floaties and pets at home, and make sure kids under 10 are accompanied by an adult at all times. To find out more about pool expectations, dates and times, visit San Antonio Parks and Rec’s website.
