The Spurs started free agency by adding Tobias Harris to the rotation Monday, adding a versatile scoring threat and a reliable rebounding wing to the rotation.

ESPN Senior NBA Insider Shams Charania, citing unnamed sources, reported Tobias’ two-year contract is worth $31 million.

San Antonio entered the offseason needing a power forward with size who can remain versatile, and Harris fits the criteria. The 15-year veteran shifts comfortably out on the wing or drives into the post when needed.

Harris holds career game averages of 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists playing with the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers and the Detroit Pistons.

During last season’s stint with the Pistons, Harris proved to be a consistent double-figure scorer, averaging 13.3 points per game while appearing in 63 matchups, all in the starting lineup. He elevated his performance in the postseason, anchoring Detroit with 18.1 points per game and helping the franchise secure its first playoff series victory since 2008.

The 6-foot-8, 230-pound Harris’ arrival with the Spurs adds depth to a pressing need for San Antonio that was missing in the postseason run: size and shooting at the power forward position.
