The high-flying Savannah Bananas are returning to San Antonio next year for a pair of matchups against the Texas Tailgaters.

The Banana Ball games — think of the teams as baseball’s answer to the Harlem Globetrotters — will take place on Sept. 10 and 11, 2027, at the Alamodome.

Due to high demand, sports fans must first enter an online lottery for a chance to gain admission to either game. Submissions to the lottery will close at 10:59 p.m. San Antonio time on Oct. 31.

Banana Ball is a version of baseball designed for entertainment-hungry fans. The humor-infused games include choreographed dances, crowd participation and faster-paced play. The league’s unique rules award a point to the team that scores the most runs in each inning and limit games to two hours.

Fans appear to enjoy the unconventional approach. The Savannah Bananas played in front of 102,000 spectators — the team’s largest audience ever — at Texas’ Kyle Field in May.
