The San Antonio Spurs bench was in shock Thursday after a fan sunk a $10,000 half-court shot during team’s 133-126 win over the Atlanta Hawks at the Frost Bank Center.
The lucky shooter was chosen at random to participate in Victory Capital’s Half Court Hero Challenge, which gives a member of the crowd 45 seconds to sink a layup, three-pointer and half-court shot to win a $10,000 prize.
With less than a second left, the San Antonio man sunk a half-court shot at the buzzer, leaving the Silver and Black’s bench gawping in disbelief.
A video of the fan’s triumph is circulating the internet, having been reposted on X, Instagram and YouTube.
“The Spurs bench can’t believe it! Ten grand!” one TV sports commentator said.
Indeed, the incredible shot especially shocked Spurs center Charles Bassey and guard Blake Wesley, whose jaws just about hit the floor.
Folks in the comments section of the video posted on the Spurs’ Instagram account were equally as stunned. User @djsfuturegoals called it the game’s “best shot of the night.”
“Give him a 10-day contract,” user @bullychainz chimed in.
The clip has garnered nearly 3,000 likes on the Spurs’ Instagram account as of press time.
