Ridley Scott’s film Blade Runner (1982) — known for its groundbreaking cinematography and stellar performances from Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young and Edward James Olmos — is an indisputable cinematic masterpiece.
However, the dystopian, sci-fi noir thriller’s soundtrack rarely receives comparable attention, even though it added to the breathtaking live action sequences and evoked the eerie feel of the narrative originally penned by Phillip K. Dick as Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
That will change for San Antonio cinema fans this Friday as Japan’s Avex Ensemble foregrounds composer Vangelis’ synthesizer-driven score in sync with a screening of the full film at the Majestic Theatre. The group is conducting a live tour presenting immersive performances of the soundtrack accompanying the movie.
