Paranormal Fest is returning to San Antonio for its 9th annual celebration of all things occult and unexplained.
Organizer Curious Twins Tours & Events promises this year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, will be bigger and better than ever.
First, the ghoulish gathering — one of the largest paranormal festivals in the state and an unofficial kickoff to spooky season — is expanding its vision with a rebrand as Texas Paranormal Fest. And as with past years, it’s taking place at Victoria’s Black Swan Inn, billed as one of the Alamo City’s most haunted locations.
Texas Paranormal Fest will run from 3-11 p.m. on Sept. 19 with VIP events scheduled for Sept. 18 and 20.
For this year’s installment, organizers are unveiling a new immersive experience called The Spirit Parlor. Guests are invited to bring photographs or family heirlooms connected to deceased loved ones and place them alongside historical objects for readings via paranormal investigative equipment.
During the immersive experience, which harkens back to the Victorian spiritualism craze, guests can explore spirit-communication technology and traditions that people have used in past attempts to communicate with the dead.
As another expansion, the festival’s lineup of speakers is being promoted as its largest yet. Speakers include psychics, mediums, authors, historians, folklorists, cryptid researchers and more, according to Curious Twins.
Paranormal investigator Ryan Buell, founder of the Paranormal Research Society and star of A&E’s Paranormal State, is among the top-billed speakers. Others include Kate the Brave, a San Antonio-based psychic medium; Rod Nichols, a cryptid researcher and lead field investigator with Bexar County Bigfoot; and Alexis Arredondo, author of Magia Magia and American Brujeria and co-owner of Austin’s City Alchemist Witch Shop.

The event also will include a market with more than 50 vendors selling crystals, oddities, handcrafted goods, herbal products and artwork along with spiritual services such as tarot readings. Local food trucks and a bar offering complimentary beverages for guests 21 and over also will be on hand.
