San Antonio’s annual celebration of anime, gaming and Japanese pop culture is returning for another sprawling Labor Day weekend takeover.
The San Japan convention will pack parts of the Henry B. González Convention Center plus neighboring venues with cosplay, gaming tournaments, panels, an idol festival, J-fashion events, late-night electronic dance parties, 24-hour tabletop gaming and enough vendors and artists to put serious strain on attendees’ wallets.
Highlights include Saturday night’s massive Cosplay Show, J-Pop and K-Pop performances, an anime-themed car show and seemingly endless opportunities to geek out with fellow fans who flock to the event from across the state — and sometimes from even further afield.
$38.34 and up, including multi-day passes and various add-ons, 8-10:30 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 3-6, multiple locations, san-japan.org.
