Trish Simonite, a native of Norfolk, England, recently retired as a professor emerita from Trinity University, where she taught photography and digital art. Her art is peripatetic: her still life images and landscapes have been exhibited widely throughout the U.S. and Europe.
For the new exhibition “Exquisite Entropy: Photographs by Trish Simonite, 1972-2025,” curator Paula Owen selected 125 of Simonite’s images that reinforce fluidity, at once capturing the liminal and historical contexts in which these images were originally created and allowing the work to slide into contemporary contexts where new meaning abounds.
From the Greek Isles to Texas honky-tonks, Simonite pilots the viewer through a sort of benign Cloverfield Paradox in which still moments become as slippery in a temporal sense as they are ethereally beautiful.
The opening reception for the exhibition will take place this Friday. Simonite also is scheduled to give an artist talk at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
