Bellagreen, a Dallas-based dining chain with a focus on healthy American cuisine, has temporarily closed its first San Antonio location after six months of service.

In a recent social Facebook post, the restaurant’s management cited the exterior scaffolding on the Jefferson Building — a mixed-use property at 1900 Broadway where Bellagreen occupies a ground-floor suite as the sole reason for its hiatus. The business plans to reopen, the post added.

“We cannot wait for that day to arrive so we can serve you again!” the announcement concluded, referring to the eventual removal of the scaffolding.

In comments to the Current, a Bellagreen spokesperson said construction on the building’s exterior has “impacted our entrance and visibility.”

The person was unable to provide a reopening date as of press time.

With a focus on affordable fast-casual fare, Bellagreen’s menu ranges from brick chicken to grilled salmon pasta, hearty beef and veggie burgers, scratch-made pizzas and more.

The Jefferson Building also houses upscale Japanese restaurant Nineteen Hyaku and along with coffee-and-sandwich shop The Newstand. Gusto Group — the local venture behind Toro Kitchen + Bar and Cuishe Cocina Mexicana — also plans to open a new rooftop bar, Sea Spice, on top of the same building.
