Midnight Swim is going under, according to its owners.
The St. Mary’s Strip fixture will close its doors Jan. 3 after seven years in business, co-owner John Michael Villanueva announced last Saturday in a social media post. But fans of the late-night spot at 2403 N. St. Mary’s St. still have time to say their goodbyes.
The club is known for its DJ sets and cocktails along with the sometimes regrettable decisions of patrons who over-imbibe.
In his post, Villanueva said the team behind the club has other plans for the location, but he wouldn’t say what those are yet.
“We’re ready to do something different here,” Villanueva said in an Instagram reel. “This is the farewell tour. The grand finale. The fucking end.”
The location’s 90-day farewell tour started over the weekend and will extend until closing time early next year.
Until then, “let’s have some fucking fun,” Villanueva said.
That involves plans to “go crazy” over Halloween weekend and to serve up drink specials and other curated events.
