Another homegrown burger joint is headed to downtown San Antonio.

Lucky Patty Smash Burgers, a food truck with a classic menu, is making the big transition to a storefront this year in downtown’s Maverick Building, a recent state filing shows.

Located at 600 N. Presa Street, the first Lucky Patty Smash Burgers restaurant will be housed in the same building as the city’s only Voodoo Doughnut location. The multi-use structure also is home to a comedy club and The Maverick, a hotel with apartment-style rooms.

Lucky Patty will take over the space that once housed The Local Bar, which shuttered in 2022 after ten years of operations, according to the business’ filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Construction on the new restaurant will begin later this month, with the $775,000 renovation project wrapping up in September, the documents also show.

Lucky Patty gets straight to the point with its online menu, which offers four burger options, regular or loaded fries and an assortment of milkshakes. The business’ slogan? “The smash burger that turns your luck around.”

The titular Patty is a the burger joint’s mascot, described on the website as, “A character, a personality, a vibe. Patty’s a reminder that simple things can be incredible when done right.”

Lucky Patty Smash Burgers is owned by Richaud Hospitality Group, which also has Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream at the Alon Town Centre. The group’s website also teases a new unnamed speakeasy concept, which it said is coming soon.
