San Antonio-based grocer H-E-B has begun a $15.6 million renovation of its Las Palmas store on San Antonio’s West Side.
The upgrades to the 44-year-old store at 721 Castroville Road will include a modernized storefront and a new layout designed to expand product selection while improving the shopping experience, company officials said Monday.
The upgraded store will offer a wider selection of grab-and-go meals in addition to a new Sushiya area, which will offer both sushi and Asian grill items such as rice and noodle bowls. The enlarged full-service pharmacy will include two drive-thru lanes.
“This investment reflects our commitment to create a welcoming store built with our customers and community at heart,” said Josh Sims, the location’s top store leader. “We are eager to bring to our Las Palmas store a fresh look and updated shopping experience that this vibrant community will be proud of for years.”
The renovation project is considerable for H-E-B, which typically spends around $5 million on store upgrade projects, the Express-News reports.
H-E-B expects to complete the project in late 2027. The store will remain open during the entire time.
