Homegrown mini-chain Singhs Vietnamese is on the cusp of another expansion as it prepares to take over the former Noodle Tree restaurant near the UT-San Antonio campus, the Current learned Wednesday.

The move follows this month’s closure of Noodle Tree, 7114 UTSA Boulevard, #101, which built a loyal following for its hearty and comforting ramen bowls. Chef Mike Nguyen, who owned and operated the ramen spot, told the Current that Singhs is the incoming tenant.

Singhs is known for its bold, comfort-driven take on Vietnamese cuisine and currently operates locations on the St. Mary’s Strip and adjacent Hill & Dales, another UTSA gathering spot. The latter Singhs location began serving last summer.

The Current reached out to Singh’s for more details about an opening timeline in the former Noodle Tree space and whether the new location will have the same menu as its other eateries. While we got no response by press time, we’ll update the story if that changes.

Nguyen announced the closure of Noodle Tree late last year, saying he’s taking time off to focus on his health as he fights an ongoing cancer battle. The restaurant shut down on its seventh anniversary, marking the end of a beloved ramen destination.
