San Antonio cafe chain CommonWealth Coffee House appears to be in financial trouble, with several properties connected to ownership entering foreclosure last week, according to Bexar County property records.

Indeed, CommonWealth Coffee’s flagship location at 118 Davis Court off Broadway is in default, with Texas-based First National Bank of Sonora filing a default notice on a $472,000 loan on the property last week, records show.

An auction for the property, which opened in 2015 as CommonWealth Coffee’s first location, is set to be held on Feb. 4.

Records show that two other properties owned by CommonWealth Coffee LLC are also in foreclosure.

First National Bank filed default notices for a $448,000 loan on a residential property at 122 Davis Court and a $1.35 million loan on an apartment complex at 930 E. Grayson St – both owned by CommonWealth Coffee LLC.

Commonwealth’s three other locations at Weston Centre, Jones Street, and Hemisfair do not appear to be affected, however.

CommonWealth Coffee did not respond to the Current’s request for comment.

The coffee chain’s website has been offline since Friday, according to the San Antonio Report.
