San Antonio cantina Sanchos opens sister snack shop Casa Chica

The owners of north-of-downtown food and nightlife spot Sanchos Cocina y Cantina have launched a sister snack spot called Casa Chica right next door.

The new business will serve ice cream, corn in a cup, pickles, chips, soft drinks and other snacks, according to details shared Thursday by Sanchos in a Facebook post.

Sanchos, located at 628 Jackson St., attracts customers just as much for its calabaza y elote nachos as its cold beer and intimate but lively performances by local musical acts.

Sanchos is also known for its rotating selection of empanadas. For November, the cantina is offering an empanada of the month filled with turkey and stuffing with a cranberry dipping sauce.

Casa Chica will operate 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
