Last month, we reported that Alamo Biscuit Co. is setting up shop on the San Antonio River Walk. Now, the locally owned business is working on plans for a South Side location, according to documents filed with the state.
The newest Alamo Biscuit Co. & Panaderia will be located at 7514 S. New Braunfels Ave. The spot is at La Picosa shopping center, near the Brooks development, the Missions, Hot Wells and I-37.
Alamo Biscuit plans $600,000 in renovations for its 3,600-square-foot South Side space, according to state filings. Construction will commence in April with an expected completion date of Nov. 17, paperwork states.
Alamo Biscuit Co. is owned by local restaurator and former franchisee John Vale. The brand’s flagship location is at 9630 Huebner Road.
Last year, Vale’s venture expanded with locations at Methodist Hospital and Trinity University. Now, with its prime location on the River Walk and this one on the South Side, the local chain seems to be positioning itself to become a household name.
Remember the Alamo? How could we forget? Alamo Biscuit is beloved for its loaded biscuits, brunch items, pan dulce and specialty items such as brisket-mac fries and birria Benedict. Customers can even choose from sweet and savory flights of biscuits.
