HASH Vegan Eatery  will host Food for Healing, a diet-sensitive popup showcasing vegetarian caterer Enlighten Veggie Food and its head chef, Michael Evans.

The popup will take place Monday, Dec 8, at HASH, 5007 South Flores St., according to details shared by the restaurant’s owners.

“Chef Michael has been crafting recipes for sensitive diets, especially for people with illnesses and sensitivities, and is now sharing these culinary delights with the world on December 8th,” Enlighten Veggie said in a statement.

The menu will include items such as hibiscus tacos on jicama tortillas, a mung-bean B-12 omelette, guava wafers and a sweet potato slider. Additional items such as mock mimosas also will be available.

According to Enlighten, about 180,000 San Antonio residents have food allergies and 220,000 have Type 2 diabetes, placing them under diet restrictions. Food for Healing is an attempt to provide a diet-inclusive space to an under-served community, according to the popup’s organizers.

The Current named HASH the Best Restaurant for Special Diets in our 2024 Best of San Antonio issue.
