In a shakeup at The Rim shopping complex, restaurant-bar concepts The General Public and Bowl & Barrel have both closed without warning.

The locations’ parent company, Dallas-based FreeRange Concepts, announced their departures via a since-deleted Instagram story, CultureMap San Antonio reports. They were located side by side at 17619 La Cantera Parkway #102.

The General Public was a tavern known for elevated American fare, while sister space Bowl & Barrel hosted a 15-lane bowling alley and bar popular for date nights and business outings. Both made their debuts at The Rim in 2015, meaning the closures end a decade-long run at the Northwest San Antonio retail destination.

“After many wonderful years of serving the San Antonio community, our journey at this location has come to an end,” FreeRange said in the now-deleted Instagram statement.

The Current reached out to FreeRange officials for additional comment but got no response by press time.

The closures mark the end of FreeRange Concepts’ presence The Rim and in San Antonio. The company also operated bar and live-music venue The Rustic in the same shopping center, but that venture shut its doors a year earlier.

The Rustic was recently revived for live music via “Summer Nights at the Rim,” a pop-up concert series from Power Gate Presents.
