Grilled and smoked meats are coming back to Sunset Station.

It's official: There's more barbecue coming to downtown and lots of it. The team behind Smoke: The Restaurant shared the news of their second location with the San Antonio Current this afternoon. Smoke: The Restaurant and Cocktail Bar is gunning for a February opening inside the former home of Ruth's Chris Sunset Station at 1170 E. Commerce St.

Sitting at more than 14,000 square feet, Big Smoke (as the team's already calling it) will take up two floors with chef Brian West at the helm of the kitchen. The wine cellar below will be turned into a cocktail bar led by Olaf Harmel (formerly with Blue Box and Mon Ami), which is aiming for a March opening. (Insert praise hands emoji here because Olaf is finally coming back inside 410).

Most changes will be cosmetic as the company is basically just "Smoke-fying" the old Ruth's Chris location, which has sat empty since mid-2013. The restaurant will open for lunch dinner and drinks and is hoping to hire between 75 and 85 people.
