Teka Molino, one of San Antonio’s oldest Tex-Mex establishments, is setting up a satellite location inside Make Ready Market, a food hall in the city’s River North District.

Rob Martinez, the food hall’s manager, told the Current he expects the restaurant to debut in the first or second week of June.

“Teka Molino — Coming soon, summer 2025,” teases a sign hanging in the Make Ready Market stall the 88-year-old local institution plans to take over.

The stall at Make Ready Market — located at 203 8th Street near Idle Beer Hall — will join Teka Molino’s two other locations, at 7231 San Pedro Ave. and 1007 Rittiman Road.

Known for its puffy tacos and bean cups, Teka Molino has operated in San Antonio since 1937. The family-owned restaurant was even featured in Season 2 of the Netflix series Taco Chronicles.

The taqueria has endured for decades thanks to local love for its tasty takes on Tex-Mex staples, including enchiladas, holiday tamales, fried cheese tacos and breakfast tacos.

Martinez said he he expects Teka Molino to offer its full menu at Make Ready Market. The eatery also will feature a margarita bar and pan dulce through its mini-panadería.

“Honestly, the kitchen is big enough to allow them to keep doing what they do,” Martinez said.

Other vendors already operating in Make Ready Market include local boutique The Fairgoods, Venezuelan eatery Four Brothers, Mediterranean spot Bowls n Go, burger joint Eet Up, juice shop Buje, Thai fried-chicken purveyors Thai Bird and beer-and-wine watering hole Garaje Cantina.

Teka Molino is taking over the spot previously occupied by surf-and-turf taco operation Pescado Bravo.
