Texas Wins Big During Great American Beer Festival

Three days and a few brews later, the Great American Beer Festival (otherwise known as GABF) has now come to a close and as always, it didn’t disappoint. This year’s festival competition saw 732 breweries from around the United States enter 4,809 brews with 201 judges from 11 countries brought together to evaluate the best of American Craft ales, lagers and specialty libations. Many Texas breweries were recognized for their talents in 2012 and this year was no different.

Texas brought in 10 awards this year four gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

Bronze medal for their Elba in the Herb/Spice Beer category

Saint Arnold Brewing Co., Houston

Silver medal for its ‘Summer Pils’ in the Munich-Style Helles category

Bronze medal for its ‘Weedwacker’ in the German-Style Wheat Ale category

Austin Beer Works, Austin

Gold medal for its Black Thunder in the German-Style Scharzbier category

Community Beer Co, Dallas

Gold medal for its ‘Public Ale’ in the Extra Special Bitter category

Real Ale Brewing Co., Blanco

Silver medal for its ‘Brewers Cut Altbier’ in the German-Style Alt category

Jester King Craft Brewery, Austin

Bronze medal for its ‘Atrial Rubucite’ in the Belgian-Style Lambic or Sour Ale category

Pinthouse Pizza, Austin

Bronze medal for its ‘Blind Jake’ in the Brown Porter category

Namaste Brewing at the Whip In, Austin

Gold medal for its ‘Bitterama’ in the Herb/Spice Beer category

 Cedar Creek Brewery, Seven Points

Gold medal for their Cedar Creek Belgian-Style Abbey Dubbel in the  Belgian-Style Abbey Ale category
