I love, love, love crawfish (crayfish, mudbugs, crawdads, what have you). Even though most other messy foods are a bit of a sell, I can always get into a crawfish boil — ripping the head off a crawfish, giving it a good suck and then digging around for the teensy bit of meat is more of an activity than it is a meal. It requires several hand washes, and just a bit of devil-may-care attitude.
With Valentine’s Day finally over, crawfish will likely start filling menu items across town. I’ve still no idea what to give up for Lent (as it’s already been noted I’m a bad Catholic), but it probably won’t include food or booze.
