Triumph and April Wine — a pair of Canadian bands who were San Antonio regulars during the city’s hard rocking ’70s and ’80s — performed Thursday night at Frost Bank Center.

The show was part of a reunion tour by Triumph, which hasn’t done any extensive road dates since 1993. Local fans may remember that the band played its first big U.S. show in San Antonio in the late 1970s, and it was championed by KISS-FM DJ Joe Anthony, who also helped break acts such as Rush and Judas Priest into mainstream success.

Triumph’s setlist spanned the group’s career, including early juggernauts “Blinding Light Show” and “Rock & Roll Machine” along with radio hits including “Magic Power” and “Fight the Good Fight.”

Meanwhile, opener April Wine treated fans to classics such as “Roller,” “Sign of the Gypsy Queen” and, appropriately, “I Like to Rock.”
